Delayed contracts cause furloughs at Itek

Nov. 1, 1994
According to vice president Richard Wollensak at Litton Itek Optical Systems (Lexington, MA), a "small percentage of the total staff" of the 450employee company are being furloughed until several new contracts arrive in November, to cut overhead expenses. The company is almost entirely funded by aerospacedefense contracts, although it did supply the primary mirror segments for the second Keck telescope (the last segment was delivered this past summer).
