Fiber digital modulators

June 1, 1997
Three digital modulators for high-speed wavelength-division multiplexing and time-domain multiplexing operate at 10 Gbit/s. All three offer 4-dB loss and a 5-V drive voltage. Two of the lithium niobate-based devices, made using annealed proton exchange, are available at 1550 and 1320 nm and provide stable function without a bias control loo¥circuit. The third is made using titanium indiffused lithium niobate and operates at 1550 nm.
