Digital Optics to develo¥miniature adaptive optics encoder for NASA

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL; Pasadena, CA) has awarded a $70,000 Small Business Innovation Research grant to Digital Optics Corp. (Charlotte, NC). Over the course of the six-month grant period, Digital Optics will design and implement a miniature encoder to control segmented mirrors for use with adaptive-optics systems for astronomical telescopes. The company has expanded its clean-room facility to 1300 sq ft--more than double the previous size. The addition includes Class 100 and Class 1
