• Techmetals moves into the optical coating market

    Metal-coating job-sho¥Techmetals Inc. (Dayton, OH) has added a 5000-sq ft facility to its 100,000-sq ft Dayton plant, in a move that marks the company`s entry into the optical-coating market. The facility will be dedicated to the production of optical substrates coated with Optakoat, a nickel alloy that creates a surface suitable for diamond turning; Techmetals also fabricates diamond-turnable chromium coatings. Applications for the coatings include telescope mirrors.
