Eye-safe Er:glass laser

May 1, 1996
The KR-253 eye-safe Er:glass laser emits at 1.54 µm. The small Q-switched laser is air-cooled and operates at 1 H¥while Q-switched using a spinning prism. If integrated into a ranging system, the laser can be used to measure distances of 10 km with a ۫-m resolution using 25-ns pulses of 5- to 10-mJ energy.
