Donnelly Corp. (Holland, MI) has agreed to merge its subsidiary, Donnelly Optics Corp., with Applied Image Group Inc. (Rochester, NY). Donnelly Corp. (Holland, MI) has agreed to merge its subsidiary, Donnelly Optics Corp., with Applied Image Group Inc. (Rochester, NY). The deal is an equity swap, with Donnelly holding a minority stake in the combined company. The deal frees Donnelly Corp. to focus on its prime business in the auto motive industry. According to a Donnelly statement, Donnelly Optics, which makes injection-molded-plastic optical lenses, will fit better with Applied Image, which makes imaging products for the optical, photonics, lighting, and automotive industries. In November 1998, Donnelly Optics opened a $2.8 million, 47,000-sq ft facility in Tucson, AZ.
