CVI Melles Griot's "Focus on You" campaign continues golden anniversary celebration of the laser

Albuquerque, NM--Started as a way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the laser by having customers share their stories about how they were influenced by or even helped shape the laser industry, the "Focus on You" campaign from CVI Melles Griot has been extremely successful and invites your participation.

"We have been so surprised by our customers' enthusiasm towards this online program," says Nina Richards, CVI Melles Griot tradeshow/marketing coordinator. "Audience participation has exceeded our wildest expectations, and the stories from our customers continue to surprise us. There are more than 300 entries on the website since late 2009," she adds.

One of the more memorable entries reads:
I left Russia in 1976, and in 1979, while I worked at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, Dr. Kazarinov was exiled from Russia because his wife organized an exhibition of informal Russian paintings in their small apartment. They settled in New York City, and I drove from Ithaca, NY to visit; their apartment on Riverdale Drive in Bronx, NY had very little furniture but lots of beautiful paintings on the white walls. In my mind, these paintings were firmly linked to a quantum cascade laser ever since.

There, readers can view the monthly winners, as well as all "runner up" entries. CVI Melles Griot wants to know "… how you helped shape, were influenced by, or interfaced with the laser world as we know it today." They invite you to share your stories about laser laboratory triumphs, non-lethal lab accidents, funny stories, patents and papers using the first lasers, and pictures, videos, or "napkins with your Nobel Prize winning work sketched out." All qualified entries receive a FREE Maxwell Equations anniversary gift and one winner each month is chosen to receive a $50.00 gift card.
