Newport Corporation's Spectra-Physics Lasers Division announces the Iris Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO), a tunable, ultrafast laser source for advanced imaging and spectroscopy applications. Optimized for use with the company's Mai Tai HP ultrafast laser, the Iris OPO delivers the widest gap-free ultrafast tuning range in the industry, from the ultraviolet (UV) to the infrared (340 to 2500 nm), and the highest power in the UV and visible. The OPO features computer-controlled tuning across the range without adjustment or change of optics. It has multiple output ports for simultaneous UV, visible, and infrared output, making it ideal for applications that require multiple wavelengths, such as coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) imaging.

PRESS RELEASE
Newport Introduces Tunable 340nm to 2500nm Ultrafast Laser Source
Fully Automated OPO Delivers Gap-Free UV to Infrared Femotosecond Pulses
Newport Corporation's Spectra-Physics® Lasers Division announces the Iris™ Optical Parametric Oscillator (OPO), a new, tunable, ultrafast laser source for advanced imaging and spectroscopy applications. Optimized for use with the company's Mai Tai® HP ultrafast laser, the Iris OPO delivers the widest gap-free ultrafast tuning range in the industry, from the ultraviolet (UV) to the infrared (340 to 2500nm), and the highest power in the UV and visible.
"We are pleased to offer this new ultrafast OPO with industry-leading performance and user-friendly operation," said Herman Chui, Senior Director of The new OPO features full automation for computer-controlled tuning across the range without adjustment or change of optics.
The Iris OPO has multiple output ports for simultaneous UV, visible and infrared output, making it ideal for applications that require multiple wavelengths, such as coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) imaging. The OPO delivers an unprecedented >1W of average power from 340-520nm and >400mW from 490-750nm. Additionally, the new OPO provides adjustable pulse widths (from 80 to 350fs). Optimized for high stability, the OPO is insensitive to ambient temperature change.
Product Marketing for Newport's Spectra-Physics Lasers Division. "The wide tuning range and high power enables new applications in multiphoton and CARS imaging, time-resolved spectroscopy and advanced scientific research."
A live demonstration of the new Iris OPO will be on display at CLEO / PhotonXpo, June 2-4, 2009 in Baltimore, Maryland at Newport's booth #1313. For more information on the new Iris OPO, please visit www.newport.com/iris.
