Amplifier system offers 25-fs laser pulses

June 11, 2001
Femtolasers demonstrated the generation of the shortest laser pulses from a commercial amplifier (25 fs) at CLEO 2001 in the Thales Laser (Totwa, NJ) booth.

Femtolasers recently demonstrated the generation of the shortest laser pulses from a commercial amplifier (25 fs). The Femtopower compact PRO, which was shown for the first time at CLEO 2001 in the Thales Laser (Totwa, NJ) booth, is a sub-30-fs, kilohertz amplifier system designed for advanced scientific applications such as OPA pumping or high harmonic generation, as well as for industrial applications like micromachining. The amplifier is the only integrated femtosecond oscillator on a compact 3 x 4-ft rugged, temperature-stabilized platform. The ulrtashort pulses allow boosting peak power to the 40-GW level.
