VI Systems offers 4 x 25 Gbit/s parallel optical testboard set

BERLIN, Germany - VI Systems GmbH, a leader in ultra-high speed components for data communications, introduces a set of parallel optical testboards. The VHXT5204A-840 transmitter testboard with high speed electrical GPPO input connectors for differential signal input and standard SMA connectors for the supply voltage. The optical output signal is generated from the proprietary 850nm VCSEL chip array which is fiber coupled by a microlens array into a ribbon fiber. The output fiber is a 50/125 um multi mode ribbon fiber with a fan-out cable which is terminated with 4 x FC/PC connectors.

The driver electronics is compliant with InfiniBand FDR/EDR and 100G Base-SR4. The transmitter testboard is specified with a power consumption of less than 150mW per channel. The VCSEL driver circuit is programmable through a Windows based computer via a USB-to-I2C bus converter. The receiver board VHXR5204A-840 board features a proprietary 4-channel PIN photodetector chip array for 700 - 870nm wavelength which is fiber coupled by a microlens array optic with 50/125 um multi mode ribbon fiber fan-out cable with 4x FC/PC connectors for the optical signal input. The board offers high speed differential electrical GPPO output connectors and SMA connectors for the power supply. The VHXR5204A-840 features adjustable output swing size and pre-emphasis mode and signal detect threshold. The transmitter testboard is specified with a power consumption of less than 180mW per channel. The transimpedance amplifier is programmable through a Windows based computer via a USB-to-I2C bus converter.

Target applications are short reach data transmission solutions for rack-to-rack application and inside of large data centers and Storage Area Networks (SANs) in the computer and network industry. VI Systems is represented by Reichenbach Intl. Inc. at the OFC/NFOEC exhibition from March 19 - 21, 2013, Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, CA, USA, booth #1363
