Jenoptik forecasts 50% increase for 2011 operations, expects sales hike
Jena, Germany--Jenoptik's Executive Board raised its operating forecast for 2011 to €44 million, yielding a 50% increase over the previous year (€29.0 million). Sales for 2011 are now forecasted at €525 million—up from €510 million, as previously expected. With this result, the company's management expects to post the best fiscal year on the earnings side in recent history.
The forecast increase results from the good order and earnings development in the first 10 months of 2011, particularly due to high demand from the semiconductor industry in the company's Lasers & Optical Systems segment and the automotive industry in the company's Metrology segment. The company expects continued positive development in the operating business in the current fourth quarter, although the development of business in the Lasers & Optical Systems segment is anticipated to continue returning to normal.
