Transmission technique could increase repeater span

Feb. 1, 1995
Optical phase conjugation has been successfully tested as an effective pulsedistortion compensation technique in highbitrate transmission systems. Researchers from the HeinrichHertzInstitute (Berlin, Germany) and the Technical University of Berlin (Germany) used fourwave mixing in a semiconductor laser amplifier that completely compensated for dispersion over 100 km of fiber.
