A miniature diode-laser module measures 7 mm in diameter and 22 mm long. The casing is made of brass and fitted with a fine internal thread that allows optics to be continuously focused over distances from 5 cm to infinity. Modules are available at wavelengths of 780, 670, and 650 nm with powers u¥to 3 mW CW. Versions also exist that allow modulation at u¥to 50 kHz. The electronics for the laser current supply are on a 16 ¥ 9-mm platform.
