Rocky Mountain Instruments (Longmont, CO) has created a new division to design, develop, and sell diode-pumped, solid-state laser systems, as well as engraving and marking equipment for overseas and domestic OEM, industrial, medical, and scientific markets. The division will be headed by Young Kwon, the previous director of lasers at Daewoo (Seoul, Korea). The company`s new product, the NL-300IR diode-pum¥solid-state laser system, is for OEM, soldering, microwelding, and other material-processing applications. . . . Schwart¥Electro-Optics Inc. (Bedford, MA) has changed the name of its research division to SEO Boston. Director Alex Rosiewic¥said the new name better suits the division`s expansion beyond research and development into production, marketing, and sales of high-performance, diode-pumped, solid-state lasers. . . . Uniphase Corp. (San Jose, CA) has named Anthony Muller senior vice president and chief financial officer, replacing Dan Pettit who now takes over as senior vice president of business planning and development.
