Laser module for DWDM

March 1, 1998
The Modular Integrated (MI) DFB Laser has an electroabsorption modulator monolithically integrated with a l/4 shifted multi-quantum well (MQW) DFB laser. Transmission spans greater than 600 km are available in the 2.5-Gbit/s data rate. The compact 14-pin butterfly-type module includes a MI DFB laser, optical isolator, monitor photodiode, thermistor, and a thermo-electric cooler. Selected wavelengths, according to the ITU grid, are available for DWDM applications.
