Gediminas Raciukaitis, a good friend of Industrial Laser Solutions and the Head of the Department of Laser Technologies of the FTMC – Center for Physical Sciences and Technology (Vilnius Lithuania), says they have just installed a Coherent E-150 CO2 laser to cut a face shield mask from 5-liter PET bottles designed at Terekas (Kretinga, Lithuania). A robot is provided by Elinta Robotics (Kaunas, Lithuania) that enables two face shields to be cut in 5 seconds.
The FlexBlow Shield—made out of high-quality food-grade PET plastic, which is harmless and food-friendly—is a barrier to protect the eye area against airborne bacteria, infections, and viruses, including the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus). The protection can be used once or multiple times if it is periodically disinfected.
Coronaviruses are transmitted from person to person, usually during close contact, such as at home or work, in a medical facility. The virus is spread through the air by droplets of respiratory secretions that people release into the environment by sneezing, coughing, or exhaling. In this case, relatively close contact between people is required (assumed to be no more than 2 meters). It is said to be the main mode of transmission of the infection.
Considering this fact, the face mask doesn’t give the best protection possible and, in this case, the face-eye zone should be covered, too, to improve protection from the COVID-19 virus. That is why using the FlexBlow Shield can help improve protection.
