Boosting rapid prototyping services reach, Prototek acquires Cal-X

Rapid prototyping services provider Prototek (Contoocook, NH) has acquired Cal-X (Grafton, WI), which provides precision machining and sheet metal fabrication rapid prototyping services.

Prototek's rapid prototyping services include CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication (including laser cutting) of parts and components for a variety of end markets, including aerospace, defense, medical, robotics, electronics, consumer, and general industrial.

Cal-X's rapid prototyping and short-run production services include CNC milling and turning, laser and waterjet cutting, and painting and silkscreening. Founded in 2002, the company serves a blue-chip customer base across a broad mix of end markets, including medical, robotics and electronics, aerospace, and transportation.

The acquisition will enable Prototek to deliver its rapid prototyping services on a nationwide scale, according to Bill Gress, CEO of Prototek. 

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
