Electronics maker MC Assembly invests in laser marking equipment

Aug. 2, 2018
The laser marking system will enable laser etching on printed circuit boards, thereby replacing traditional labeling.

Mid-tier electronics manufacturer MC Assembly (Melbourne, FL) has added new Keyence (Itasca, IL) laser marking equipment to its facility in Zacatecas, Mexico. The system will enable laser etching on printed circuit boards (PCBs), thereby replacing traditional labeling. Due to the large output at the Mexico facility, the laser marking machine is important to the company’s lean manufacturing practices.

The company has also invested in Keyence 2000X VHX-950F 3D digital scopes for its Melbourne, Mexico, and Boston, MA locations, which will help it to perform failure and critical analysis. The digital scopes are a reliability tool that can deliver up to 500x the magnification, verifying that all of the PCB layers have connections. The digital scope provides confirmation that each PCB the company produces meets its industry standards.

Computerized Keyence XM Series coordinate measuring machines have also been installed at the company’s Boston and Mexico locations, enabling all fabricated metal parts to be critically measured to a high degree in a reduced amount of time. Adding this tool to its production has helped further its lean manufacturing efforts.
