Laser machining services provider EBTEC (Agawam, MA), a division of EDAC Technologies (Cheshire, CT), has acquired three fiber laser systems from Prima Power Laserdyne (Champlin, MN) for installation at its East Windsor, CT facility, expanding the company's four existing fiber laser system output to meet the growing needs of its aerospace and commercial customers.

One of the systems, the LASERDYNE 795XL BeamDirector cutting and welding system, features a 20kW quasi-continuous-wave fiber laser. It adds large part capacity for complex laser hole drilling at angles as shallow as 10° to the surface in uncoated and thermal barrier-coated heat-resistant materials. The other two machines are LASERDYNE 430 BeamDirector systems, which are smaller-footprint systems capable of drilling cylindrical and shaped holes, bevel cutting, and welding materials such as high-temperature nickel alloys, aluminum, copper, stainless steel, and titanium. All three systems operate at speeds up to 0–20m/min. in the X, Y, and Z axes with 12.7µm bi-directional accuracy, and are capable of processing both thick and thin materials.
