Fiber endcaps for industrial high-power lasers

Oct. 19, 2017
A line of fiber endcaps increases power handling tolerances of optical fiber cores for high-power assemblies.

A line of fiber endcaps from Fiberguide Industries (Stirling, NJ) increases power handling tolerances of optical fiber cores for high-power assemblies. The large endcaps (up to 25mm) allow for laser input power up to 5kW. When coupled with the company's RARe Motheye treated fibers, the endcaps produce an assembly capable of very high efficiency of transmission with low reflective properties. The resulting assembly has utility in industrial applications that require high power, such as laser welding and engraving.
