SLM Solutions signs long-term cooperation agreement, gains multi-machine order

June 27, 2017
The agreement includes a letter of intent to purchase 15 new SLM Solutions multi-laser machines through December 31, 2019.

Metal-based additive manufacturing technology supplier SLM Solutions (Lübeck, Germany) has signed a long-term agreement with BeamIT (Fornovo di Taro, Italy). BeamIT, a contract manufacturer for the automotive, biomedical, aeronautic, and aerospace industry in Italy, already has SLM Solutions machines in use. The cooperation agreement also includes a letter of intent to purchase 15 new SLM Solutions multi-laser machines through December 31, 2019: 10 SLM 280 2.0 machines and five SLM 500 machines equipped with a quad-laser system.

The cooperation between the companies concerns the joint development and testing of various parameters for setting the machines when using metal powders.

The agreement represents an important step for SLM Solutions toward leveraging the opportunities that arise from the growing use of additive manufacturing technology in the automotive as well as biomedical, aeronautic, and aerospace sectors.
