LSP Technologies sells laser peening system in China

March 6, 2017
LSP Technologies has sold a laser peening system (a surface treatment method) to the Guangdong University of Technology.

LSP Technologies (Dublin, OH) has sold a 200W Procudo 200 laser peening system (a surface treatment method) along with paired work cell and robotic part manipulation equipment to the Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT; Guangzhou, China). The equipment, which will be delivered in early 2017 and installed on GDUT's campus, will be used to conduct research and application development on laser peening, laser peen forming, and laser-material interactions. This sale represents the company's introduction into the Asian material improvement market.

LSP Technologies' Procudo 200 laser peening system.

The laser peening system offers 20Hz repetition rates, and an advanced control system for real-time data collection and storage. Its embedded diode-pumped laser offers an injection-seeded oscillator with multiple amplifier modules and YLF rod sizes from 3 to 25mm to produce gigawatts of power. Able to produce a flat-top beam with up to 10J/pulse at a wavelength of 1053nm, the system integrates with modular work cells for laser delivery, diagnostics, and part handling, and can be supplied with a wide range of automated robots and accessories to facilitate laser peening parts of various shapes and sizes.

GDUT and LSP Technologies will work together to introduce laser peening technology to China and Asia, bringing leading academics and researchers from the international laser peening community to GDUT for cutting-edge research.
