Dr. Mariana Forrest joins Industrial Laser Solutions

Industrial Laser Solutions magazine is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Mariana Forrest as a contributing editor for the automotive industry. Dr. Forrest is the founder and president of LasAp, an engineering and manufacturing consultancy dedicated to accelerating the development pace and to transferring into production of advanced manufacturing technologies. The company is located in Troy, MI.

Prior to founding LasAp, Dr. Forrest held various technical, R&D, and executive management positions in engineering and manufacturing with Control Data, Chrysler, and DaimlerChrysler. Most recently, she was senior manager of advanced joining technologies development group, part of the materials engineering department at DaimlerChrysler Corp. She represented DaimlerChrysler on several major industry and university consortia, providing technical direction and actively promoting collaborative R&D work in advanced automotive manufacturing process technologies.

Dr. Forrest is a graduate of the Chrysler Institute of Engineering and holds an MSEE from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in EE from Wayne State University. She holds several patents in the area of advanced joining processes, published in professional journals, organized international conferences, and has taken a leadership role in promoting the application of laser technology for automotive Body-in-White processes. Dr. Forrest represented DaimlerChrysler on various industry and university consortia related to advanced manufacturing technology and is a member of the American Welding Society and the Laser Institute of America.
