August 17, 2007--IMRA America Inc. announced the promotion of Makoto Yoshida to vice president of applications research.
Dr. Yoshida, who rejoined IMRA in August 2007, was previously group manager of fiber laser business promotion at AISIN in Japan. He worked as an optical engineer at IMRA from 1990 until 1997. In his new position he is responsible for management of applications research using ultrafast fiber lasers for developing new functional thin films and micro-machining.
He has been awarded numerous patents and has published many articles. He received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from State University of New York at Buffalo. Yoshida is a member of the Optical Society of America, the Japan Society of Applied Physics, the Laser Society of Japan, and the Japan Laser Processing Society.
IMRA develops ultrafast fiber laser technologies for commercial applications.
