Midaz Lasers Ltd, London, UK, has introduced the FLAIR-13 laser with 13 watts of IR average power at 100 kHz. Pulse repetition rate can reach 500 kHz with extremely short pulse durations. The linearly polarized beam enables this laser design to be adapted for green and UV wavelengths.

FLAIR-13’s pulse durations can be as short as 8 ns at 30 kHz. Systems integration is simplified due to FLAIR’s compact size (22 cm long, 2.0 kg weight) and modular design approach. Air cooling makes this laser a cost-competitive solution without the need for a water chiller.

The company thinks that FLAIR-13 will replace existing sources in laser marking systems and also help to create new applications that require best quality marking and micromachining with high throughput.
