PRIMA ships 1000th CO2 industrial laser

Chicopee, Mass. – Reinforcing its position as a world leader in the design and manufacture of industrial lasers and laser systems, PRIMA North America Inc. announced that it has shipped its 1000th CP Series industrial CO2 laser.

ries laser has become an industry standard used for metal cutting and welding in the aircraft, automotive, agricultural equipment, appliance, furniture, mining, and general fabricating sectors.

"The CP Series lasers are recognized for their high electrical efficiency compared to other lasers within the same power range and for beam quality that contributes to high precision and high cutting quality of a wide range of materials. With installations in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia, the CP Series family of lasers has proven to be a consistent, cost-effective, reliable manufacturing tool wherever they are used.”

“As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the invention of the laser, it is also worth noting that the roots of the CONVERGENT LASERS brand CO2 laser can be traced to the early 1960s, shortly after the invention of the laser," he continued.

The CP-Series is a family of 3 to 4 kW fast axial flow, DC-excited CO2 lasers that employ field proven technologies for the resonator, power supply, gas circulation and controller subsystems. The lasers are produced at PRIMA North America headquarters in Chicopee, MA, in an ISO 9001:2008 certified facility.

These lasers offer both CW and a wide range of pulsing performance while maintaining repeatable beam characteristics. They are superior in processing difficult stainless steel applications and provide process advantages when piercing, cutting, or welding other materials without changes to the machine tool setup.
