Portland, Ore. – Electro Scientific Industries Inc. (ESI), a provider of photonic and laser systems for micro-engineering applications, has earned the prestigious Provectus Award issued by MDB Capital Group LLC. The award, presented at MDB's first-annual Bright Lights Conference taking place in San Francisco this week, recognized ESI for the strength of its intellectual property (IP) processes.

The Provectus Award (Latin for "most advanced") recognizes the top five companies across all industries with the highest combined tech score, patent application compounded annual growth rate, and number of patent grants. ESI was selected among more than 1,600 small cap companies with US patents granted, as rated by PatentVest, MDB's proprietary IP business intelligence database.

"We're extremely pleased to be recognized for the continued investment in the IP that drives our photonic technology and inspection systems," said Nick Konidaris, president and CEO of ESI. "ESI has a strong history of developing technologies that deliver the precision and performance required for state-of-the-art, high-volume manufacturing environments in the semiconductor, microelectronics and other emerging industries. We are committed to a very high level of excellence and look forward to continuing this tradition."
