Rolling Meadows, Ill. – BEST Inc. announces the release of SMT metal stencil fabrication capability. In conjunction with long-time metal stencil fabricator, MRC, Fremont, Calif., BEST will be servicing Midwest clients with metal stencil requirements.

The new venture, MRC Midwest, will be producing metal stencils in a variety of configurations, including framed and frameless stencils as well as rework and component stencils. The most common 29 in. x 29 in., 20 in. x 20 in., and 36 in. x29 in. dimensioned stencils will be available on a quick turn basis.

Stencils will be made using a high end LPKF brand laser that has a very accurate cutting tolerance (1/4 of a mil), very tight beam width (1 mil) and a very stable table to make sure that the apertures drilled are accurate. Backup machines will ensure consistency of supply from the other MRC locations.

These stencils will be made from the PHD, which is flatter than traditional grades of stainless steel, thereby resulting in better print and alignment quality for the user. The smaller grain size of this material allows for the higher energy absorption to be achieved, meaning stencils have a longer life in addition to better release characteristics as the aperture walls are smoother.

"This is a natural progression of our stencil capability and we are fortunate to be partnered with such a seasoned SMT stencil producer," claims Katy Radcliff, product line manager of BEST Inc.

MRC manufactures laser-cut stencils, tooling and fixtures for PCB assembly and is also a provider of tape and reel services. Stencils are manufactured using state-of-the-art LPKF laser cutting machines at locations in California (Fremont), Texas (Dallas), and India (Bangalore). MRC Midwest will be its fourth location to serve customers in the Midwest region.

BEST is a supplier of PCB rework and repair services serving communications, computer, industrial, automotive, avionic and military accounts. In addition, the company is a master IPC-certified training center, certifying students and instructors in J-STD-001, IPC-610 and IPC 7711 and 7721 material.
