Gas turbine component repair/reconditioning facility uses laser welding
Power Systems Mfg. (PSM) opened a new 76,000-square-foot gas turbine component repair and reconditioning facility. Located at the company's headquarters in Jupiter, FL, which occupies 180,000 square feet and employs 255 people, the expansion is expected to add up to 100 new employees over the next three years.
The new shop was designed to incorporate green technologies and principles and is the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) registered gas turbine reconditioning facility in the world. The workshop also includes advanced "F" class process technologies such as laser welding, high-temperature brazing and heat treat, CNC machining, HVOF and plasma coating, digital x-ray, and a complete metallurgical laboratory.
PSM is a global supplier of improved technology components for industrial gas turbines used by utilities and industrial companies to generate electrcity. PSM's product line includes stationary and rotating airfoil parts, low-emission combustion systems, and advanced components for Frames 6B, 7E/EA, 7FA, and 9E, as well as the GT6-5000F and 501F machines.
