Spectra-Physics' new continuous-wave diode-pumped solid-state green laser with 25 W power targets applications in ultrafast laser pumping, doping solar cells, and materials processing.

Spectra-Physics, Santa Clara, CA, a brand of Newport Corp., has introduced a continuous-wave (CW) diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) green laser (532 nm wavelength) with 25 W power, the highest in the industry.

The Millenia Core delivers single-mode TEM00 beam quality (M2 < 1.1, beam diameter 2.3 mm ± 10%) and very low optical noise (< 0.04% rms). The system's optical cavity, laser diode, and control electronics are all integrated into a single, compact package (584.2 x 152.4 x 114.3 mm), eliminating the need for an external power supply. More system specs are available on Newport's Web site.

Targeted applications include ultrafast laser pumping, doping solar cells, and materials processing.
