Laser energy sensors

Ophir Photonics' PE50BF-DIFH-C and PE100BF-DIF-C laser energy sensors provide the industry's lowest measurable energy, longest measurable pulse width, and highest accuracy for applications including laser cutting and laser welding.

Ophir Photonics, North Logan, UT, has released two new pyroelectric laser energy sensors that it says provide the industry's lowest measurable energy, longest measurable pulse width, and highest accuracy for applications including laser cutting and laser welding.

The new PE-C laser energy sensors (PE50BF-DIFH-C and PE100BF-DIF-C) feature an innovative BF coating and diffuser that deliver high damage thresholds, up to 6 J/cm2 for nanosecond pulses. They also provide a user adjustable threshold, preventing false readings in noisy environments, and support repetition rates up to 250 Hz and pulse widths up to 20 ms. The DIFH-C version offers energy measurement down to 200 μJ, and a special diffuser for the higher damage threshold level; the DIF-C version measures energy down to 0.7 mJ and damage threshold up to 3 J/cm2. Both work with most Ophir smart displays or PC interfaces, each display features a "Smart Connector" interface that automatically configures and calibrates the display when plugged into one of the company's measurement sensors.
