Resonetics, a supplier of polymer micromachining servicesfor the life sciences industry, has opened a new Lightspeed application development lab for micromachining process development, prototyping and pilot production.

Nashua, NH -Resonetics, a supplier of polymer micromachining services for the life sciences industry, has opened its new Lightspeed application development lab (ADL) focusing exclusively on micromachining process development, prototyping and pilot production.

The new 8000 sq. ft. site will offer an array of technologies, excimer, DPSS, CO2, and ultrafast workstations (femtosecond and picosecond), capable of handling various geometries (flat, tubular, 3-D, and balloons). Services include: evaluation of laser-material interaction; optimization of processing parameters; iterative prototyping and testing of evaluation samples; and process development/pilot production. A dedicated team of engineers, technicians, and skilled operators will staff the facility on two shifts.

Tom Burns, Resonetics CEO -- appointed this fall, with a background deep in life sciences -- called the new operation "a world-class capability" that will service the needs of customers in the life sciences industry. "Laser micromachining is an enabling process for some of the industry's most cutting-edge technologies," he said, adding that the company will continue to dedicate "significant resources to the product development process."
