Nanosecond-pulsed lasers for laser ablation

Nov. 28, 2012
Ekspla's NL230 series DPSS Q-switched Nd:YAG nanosecond lasers target applications ranging from material ablation to laser pumping.

Ekspla, Vilnius, Lithuania, has unveiled a new line of DPSS Q-switched Nd:YAG nanosecond lasers for applications ranging from material ablation to laser pumping.

The NL230 series produces pulse energies from 50 mJ (at 100 Hz pulse repetition rate) to 140 mJ (at 30 Hz). Pulse duration is in the 5-9 ns range. Diode pumping allows maintenance-free laser cavitry operation for an extended period of time -- more than three years at eight working hours/day, the company claims, and typical pump diode lifetime exceeding 1 billion shots. A variable reflectivity output coupler gives a low-divergence beam. A closed-loop chiller is used for laser cooling, eliminating the need for external cooling water and reducing running costs.

Applications include material ablation, remote sensing, OPO, Ti:Sapphire or dye laser pumping. Harmonics options are available for 532 nm, 355 nm and 266 nm wavelength output. The laser can be controlled via remote control pad or USB interface; LabVIEW drivers are included.
