Laser Research Optics, Providence, R.I., has released the LRO advanced optical cleaning kit that includes everything necessary to remove spatter and blowback from CO2 laser optics to extend the working life of lasers.

The kit was developed to let users remove spatter and blowback in the field to prevent damage to coatings, extend lens life, and improve laser performance. Supplied with step-by-step instructions, the kit includes 24 cotton balls, 24 surgical-grade finger cots, 24 lens matts, distilled water, polishing compound, reagent-grade isopropyl alcohol and acetone, and an air bulb for dust removal.

Capable of improving transmission and increasing laser system efficiency, the LRO Advanced Optical Cleaning Kit is ideally suited for CO2 lasers used in dirty environments. It is also effective for most precision optics such as CaF2, fused silica, germanium, sapphire, silicon, ZnSe, and ZnS.
