Laser welding supplier Kuka sells systems to Spanish auto parts supplier
Augsburg, Germany -- Kuka Systems says it has received "a major order" to build several manufacturing lines incorporating remote laser welding technology for an unidentified Spanish car parts supplier.
The deal, valued in the "lower double-digit million euro" range according to the company, will involve engineering and constructing four lines to make car body parts including front and rear sliding doors and tailgates for various types of vehicles, including building preproduction assemblies.
Company CEO Till Reuter pointed out the wide variety of vehicle models that the lines will assemble, as well as the use of remote laser welding using systems with very high power density.
