LPKF, Tualatin, OR, has received a 2012 NPI Award in the category of Automation Tools for its MicroLine 1120 P system. The award was presented to LPKF on February 28, 2012 at the IPC APEX Exposition in San Diego, CA.

The MicroLine 1120 P is an affordable UV laser system designed for processing bare rigid and flexible PCBs. With the ability to drill, engrave, ablate and cut complex shapes on a variety of materials, the UV laser eliminates stress to the substrate, allows for more circuits on a single panel and eliminates the limitations of tooling.

Especially suited for high-mix, flexible manufacturing environments, the MicroLine 1120 P is ready to produce a new design within moments of changing the data and provides users with increased freedom in process planning from prototyping to mass production. With a high cutting quality and superior processing capabilities, the MicroLine 1120 P reduces operational costs incurred from outsourcing.

Premiering in 2008, the NPI Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Premier products are based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology and are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts.
