Krailling, Germany - In order to support the development of new laser processes for high-efficiency solar cell concepts of its Asian customers, InnoLas Solutions GmbH, innovators in laser technology to produce highly efficient and reliable processing systems, will open a laser laboratory in Hsinchu, Taiwan, in July 2014. The company produces laser systems for micro material processing, particularly in the photovoltaic (PV) industry, for semiconductors, electronics, and precision engineering.

The Innovative Laser Applications (ILap) Demo Center will be equipped with the company’s proven tool platform and laser technology. Customers will be able to send samples to the lab for processing, or to book individual visits to optimize process parameters together with the InnoLas experts.

PV manufacturers in Asia can thus benefit from InnoLas' +15 years of experience in laser systems for solar cell production. Having these resources available locally not only saves on travel time and expenses, but also enables PV manufacturers to react quicker to emerging technologies and to access state-of-the-art laser equipment early in the development process. The ILap will initially be equipped with laser technology to apply laser contact opening of the passivation layer or stack for PERC-type solar cells.
