With the IPG Photonics YLS-4000 Nd:YAG CW Ytterbium fiber laser, the company can join a wider array of different metal alloys, faster, and with deeper weld penetrations.

Farmingdale, NY - EB Industries, a provider of electron beam welding, laser welding, and laser hermetic sealing services since 1965, has recently expanded its capabilities by adding an IPG PhotonicsYLS-4000 Nd:YAG continuous wave (CW) Ytterbium fiber laser to its processing line.

The new laser has power ratings to 4 kW with both CW and pulsed operating modes. Included with the acquisition are a number of different fibers, weld heads, and associated optics, allowing for focused spot sizes from 50 to 1000 microns. With a wall-plug efficiency greater than 30%, the new laser supports EB Industries’ dedication to efficient, environmentally friendly technology.

EB Industries has been addressing customer’s joining needs for over 49 years by utilizing high-voltage electron beam technology as well as lower powered pulsed lasers.

“At EB Industries, we pride ourselves in having diverse technology capabilities in order to meet our customer’s requirements,” says John DeLalio, director of new business development. “We are a job shop that prides itself in having the right technology and knowledge to solve any joining challenge. The IPG laser system gives us the ability to join a wider array of different metal alloys, faster, and with deeper weld penetrations, resulting in high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our customers.”
