High speed glass cutting demonstrated at Laser World of Photonics China show
Shanghai, China - An estimated 1000 visitors witnessed a live demonstration of high speed glass cutting at the Spectra-Physics booth at the Laser World of Photonics China trade show last week. The company’s Quasar high power UV laser demonstrated >1500 mm/s cutting of strengthened glass commonly used in mobile devices with its patent-pending process, and cutting of both lines and enclosed holes was shown.
This demo was part of Spectra-Physics’ “#1 in UV Lasers” display, which also featured a new laser launched at this show, Talon 355-15, a disruptive cost-performance UV laser, and a live demonstration of Explorer One 355-300, reportedly the world’s smallest q-switched UV laser. Additionally, UV laser-micromachined samples of glass, PCBs, semiconductors, LEDs, thin metals, thin films and other materials were on display. Also highlighted at the booth were ultrafast lasers for micromachining, medical, and other applications.
