Concept Laser has signed ES Technology to be responsible for the marketing, sales, servicing, and support of the full range of its products through the UK.
Concept Laser produces laser cusing systems, where laser cusing is a process that involves the fusing of a single component metallic powder by a scanning laser to produce complex and intricate three-dimensional components.
This process was invented for the mould tool making industry, however other market segments such as medical, aerospace, Formula 1, and academic institutions can benefit from this process.
The laser beam completely melts the metal powder and therefore produces a stress- and deformation-free fully dense part in aluminum, tool steel, titanium, inconel, or stainless steel. The powder material is applied to a component carrier in predetermined thicknesses, and then fused by the laser according to the CAD data for that specific layer or slice of the part. This process is repeated, layer by layer, until the finished part is produced. Components such as mould tool inserts manufactured in this way can have conformal cooling channels and other complex 3D geometries that, reportedly, would be impossible to manufacture by other methods.
