ESI's New Wave Research (NWR) Division has received a multiple-system order from Hangzhou Silan Azure Corp. Ltd. for its AccuScribe 2112 laser-scribing equipment. China-based Silan Azure—a manufacturer of full-color LED chips—will use the AccuScribe systems to expand production capacity for its high-volume, HB-LED applications.
"Leveraging our industry expertise, we designed the 2112 — the seventh generation system — to dramatically impact the productivity and efficiency of any manufacturing environment," explained Michael Stubelt, director of marketing for ESI's NWR Division.
"The 2112 is capable of various applications in HB-LED scribing, including front and backside scribing of sapphire, full dicing of Cu metal wafers, scribing of Si, GaAs, and SiC among others, all within a single machine. We value this partnership with Silan Azure and remain committed to developing advanced systems to improve yields and provide long-term ROI for our global HB-LED manufacturers," said Stubelt.
The company says that the 2112's high-speed performance is achieved via the latest in UV DPSS laser technology and NWR's advanced optical and image-processing technologies. The 2112 includes a patented wafer-edge detection system that enables the operator to scribe every inch of precious wafer real estate and scribe partial or broken wafers. Also, the backside alignment allows scribing from the backside of wafers when opaque wafer materials make topside alignment and scribing impossible.
