8 Nominees for International Laser Innovation Award Announced
Eight nominees were selected from 33 applications and proposals from nine countries for the Berthold Leibinger Innovationspreis, which recognizes worldwide innovations in applied laser technology. Topics include silicon photonics, medical lasers and applications, laser measuring devices, lasers for and in micro-machining, car body production, and microlithography.
The nominated individuals and groups impressed the judges with their achievements and innovative drive to develop, apply, and bring to market the real life applications and laser sources benefiting people, society, and industry.
The individuals and group representatives have been invited to Ditzingen, Germany, to present their innovations in person to the jury. Based on the presentations, the jury will select three prize winners for the Berthold Leibinger Innovationspreis 2008. The diplomas, sculptures, and prize money totaling 35,000 euros will be presented to the prize winners on September 15 at an award ceremony.
