GCC, Taipei, Taiwan, has announced that it has won the 2008 Outstanding Photonics Product Award presented by the Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association (PIDA) for its advanced large working table metal marking system, GCC LaserPro S290. PIDA, a nonprofit organization gathering technology and market analysis worldwide for Taiwanese optoelectronic industries, gives out annual awards.

GCC is an equipment-manufacturing provider in the visual-tech industry providing a broad range of hi-tech and high-performance laser engraving/cutting/marking systems, cutting plotters and UV inkjet printers to the global market.

The key component is the diode pumped solid state (DPSS) laser tube, which reportedly yields spectacular marking results and excellent output quality. The LaserPro S290 also incorporates numerous innovative features developed from GCC LaserPro's years of experience. For example, the "Drag-N-Engrave" greatly reduces complex setup tasks and allows users to directly drag the lens carriage to the desired starting point of a job, and the auto-power compensation feature ensures a consistent power stability to present delicate marking quality.

The LaserPro S290 can be used in a wide range of applications such as marking a graphic on metallic surfaces, plastic surfaces, or simply barcodes on metal tools.
