• Laser processing for aerospace manufacturing applications

SALA, which originally focused on laser drilling for aerospace applications, now examines a wider range of laser processes
    Nov. 28, 2008

More than 160 participants from the USA and Europe attended SALA 2008 for presentations covering percussion laser hole drilling to laser based paint removal. SALA 2009 will cover applied laser technologies for the aerospace industry including: drilling, cutting, welding, additive manufacturing and surface treatment

At this year's EuroMold in Frankfurt, Germany, (3–6 December 2008), the topic of e-Manufacturing will be dominated by industrial series production–whether it is in aerospace, the medical sector, or the toolmaking industry. EOS will present several technological highlights (at stand F70 in hall 8.0) for increasing the quality and efficiency of e-Manufacturing with lasersintering technology.

These new improvements include an entirely unique high-temperature system for processing high-performance polymers that are extremely well-suited for use in the aerospace industry and many other special applications. The EOS IQMS (Integrated Quality Management System) is being augmented with yet another important module through the introduction of an Online Laser Power Control (OLPC) that takes process control, parts quality and traceability in additive manufacturing to a whole new level. Another important EOS highlight at EuroMold 2008 is the Integrated Process Chain Management (IPCM) system for EOSINT M, which facilitates fast, user-friendly, and secure handling of metal powders and parts.
