Powerlase has been named 'Manufacturer of the Year for 2007' at the Elektra Awards. The company received this award in recognition of its success in the development of class-leading laser technology and its application with the Flat Panel Display (FPD) manufacturing industry. The company has, in particular, contributed to innovation of the manufacture of Plasma Display Panels (PDP) with a significant percentage of global PDP production reliant on Powerlase lasers.
Mike Mason, vice president of technology at Powerlase, who directed the entry, comments, "One of the factors that we believe sets us apart from other manufacturers is our close customer contact during the development of new technology and applications. The only way to both develop innovative technology and meet real-world manufacturing requirements is to identify customer needs and then work to specifically address these needs. We've seen the great success and results from these relationships in the area of PDP manufacture and are looking to expand further into other high growth markets."
