East Hartford, Conn. – Laser paint stripping has been of interest in the aerospace industry for decades, and a number of demonstration sites have been established. Now as the need for cleaner, greener, more productive and efficient paint removal increases, several new laser paint stripping advances have appeared.

These advances include the development of new beam scanning technology that produces greater efficiency, more effective effluent removal, and the use of high-power lasers. Also introduced is real-time process control and monitoring, which compensates for paint thickness variations and manages overlapping passes.

These advances have been incorporated in the world's largest aircraft depainting robot, which will be described by Stan Ream (EWI) at this year's SALA to be held in Hartford, Conn., on April 13 to 14. Register now to attend this symposium on advanced laser applications.
