FOBA Laser Marking + Engraving, Selmsdorf/Lüdenscheid, Germany, has introduced the FOBA G3 laser workstation for the high-precision and repeatable laser marking and engraving of small workpieces.

FOBA G3 laser workstation for material processing, belongs to FOBA’s line of laser engraving machines, but bridges the gap to FOBA’s all-laser marking machines. The G3 station is good for highly-precise deep engravings but also for brilliant laser markings in small and premium parts. This predestines FOBA G3 for varied laser marking and engraving applications in the medical technology industry and fine engraving sector as well as for numerous applications in the metal, tool and mold production. The 2-in-1 laser marking and engraving machine applies finest 2D/3D engravings on 3D surfaces and marks medical instruments, equipment and implants as well as luxury goods such premium watches and jewelry.

Powerful solid state lasers, the automatic vision system IMP (Intelligent Mark Positioning) and the manual vision system Point & ShootTM ensure short processing times and high-precision. FOBA G3 excels wherever absolute marking and reproduction accuracy are demanded: from the marking of small plastic and metal parts to the engraving of filigree 2D/3D textures and patterns on 3D surfaces. The patented camera system IMP automatically detects workpieces and their positioning, and adjusts the marking/ engraving accordingly. With Point & ShootTM marking, contents are positioned manually directly on a screen image of the product. Both imaging systems allow for upfront verification of what the mark will look like and where it will be. In addition, IMP and Point & ShootTM assist in reducing expensive fixtures and eliminating time consuming trial-and-error processes. Scrap and mismarked parts are reduced, and a consistent highest marking/ engraving quality and accuracy is guaranteed.

With a width of 80cm, a height of 1.90m and a footprint of 1.4 m2, FOBA G3 fits through standard doors. As a result of the compact design, the workstation can easily be integrated into any lab environment.

With G3, FOBA introduces an ecofriendly as well as efficient laser workstation: “The G3 station’s technical master plan is highly innovative and meets all ergonomic requirements. The system is completely optimized with regard to its energy footprint and can be utilized for a wide range of applications. The system is completely air-cooled and gets along without a high-maintenance, expensive and space-consuming water cooling,” says Uwe Plath, FOBA product manager for integrated solutions.

Thanks to its modular design, the FOBA G3 laser workstation can be customized according to the respective application. The laser that is to be integrated in the class 1 enclosure is freely selectable.

The laser marking software FOBA MarkUSTM is included in the standard delivery of the single-phase machine. FOBA EMC, software for (3D) laser engravings, is available as an option. The G3 can be extended up to five axes with a swivel axis and a rotary unit. With this, the G3 can be optimally adapted to the respective laser marking/engraving application.
