Molndal, Sweden – Permanova Lasersystem ab has delivered equipment to Swenox for both laser cutting and laser welding. The delivery will be part of the Swenox investment in a new production facility for exhaust silencers for trucks in Nykoping, Sweden.
Laser welding and cutting are processes well suited for stainless steel. The flexibility of a fiber-guided laser beam makes it easy to switch the laser beam between work stations for cutting and welding. For this installation, a disc laser with high efficiency and low running costs is used. Robots carrying the laser process tools are selected to combine both precision and reach for cutting, and reach and payload capacity for welding. Normal variations in weld joint geometries are taken care of by the seam tracking feature in the Permanova laser welding tool.
"In this way, Swenox will be prepared to handle future changeovers to new products in a flexible manner," says Erik Vännman, sales engineer at Permanova. "With a laser in house, new designs and application possibilities will be discovered for future customer products."
Permanova Lasersystem AB is a Swedish integrator of robotized laser systems for metal processing, mainly for welding, 3D cutting, brazing, cladding, and marking.
