Orlando, Fla. – The Laser Institute of America's 3rd Laser Additive Manufacturing Workshop (LAM) on February 16 to 17 in Houston, Texas, will bring industry specialists, executives, users, and researchers from around the world to show how cladding and rapid manufacturing can be applied effectively and affordably to today's manufacturing challenges.

The LAM Workshop will have significant impact on the widespread industrial implementations of laser additive manufacturing. This important event will be held at the Sheraton North Houston Hotel.

Industry experts from the automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, biomedical, construction and other fields will converge to hear about LAM's vast potential. Additive manufacturing is a very broad topic area and at this point is hot in a number of industries.

Plenary speaker Minlin Zhong from Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) will share his overview on laser additive manufacturing in China, and David L. Bourell from the University of Texas/Austin will discuss the history of rapid prototyping to direct manufacturing.

The program includes presentations on laser additive manufacturing for aerospace, automotive, biomedical, DOD, material processes & systems, heavy equipment, agriculture, offshore oil & gas, mining, and power generation.

Selected topics include: new cladding techniques for component repair and general manufacturing, powder specifications, emerging applications, high deposition cladding, turbine repair, selective laser melting technology, new success stories, and ROI.

Registration includes two full days admission to the plenary session, technical sessions, networking luncheons and exhibitor reception.
