East Hartford, Conn. – Laser beam delivery must cope with many different factors including the laser beam, optics, assist, purge and exhaust gases, gas nozzles, viewing systems, sensors and process environment. Some applications can be served by standard beam delivery systems while others require some unique custom solutions.

At SALA 2011, Tom Kugler, fiber systems manager for Laser Mechanisms Inc., will discuss some of the latest developments in beam delivery systems for 1 micron and 10.6 micron lasers.

Among the subjects he will cover in his presentation are:

  • Reflective optical systems for high-power, 1 micro lasers to minimize the effects of thermal focus shift
  • A robotic cutting head with a state-of-the-art height sensing system for high-power, 1 micron lasers
  • A lightweight cutting system for low to mid-power, 1 micron lasers
  • Articulated arm beam delivery systems and their use in aerospace applications

System integrators and process development engineers will benefit from this presentation by a veteran who has spent his 26+ year career working with lasers including CO2, TEA CO2, Nd:YAG, disk, fiber, excimer, and other wavelengths in applications, systems, and beam delivery

SALA 2011, to be held April 13 and 14 at the Hartford Hilton Hotel, is in its sixth year and is now the first end-user symposium on industrial laser material processing.
